description
Noren are traditional Japanese fabric dividers hung at the entrances of shops and restaurants.
They typically have one or more vertical slits, allowing people to pass through easily. These curtains have been used since the Edo period (1603–1868), originally serving practical purposes such as blocking sunlight, keeping out dust, or providing privacy. Over time, they also came to signify that a shop was open for business—becoming a kind of symbol or “face” of the store.
Even today, noren can be seen in traditional shopping streets, izakayas (Japanese pubs), public bathhouses, and other long-standing establishments. They are also appreciated as nostalgic interior decorations for the home.
This masking tape features a design inspired by these traditional noren curtains, evoking the charm of a stroll through a classic Japanese shopping street.
Perfect for gift wrapping, cards, collages, and more, adding a unique touch to your creations. This decorative paper tape is easy to use and remove, making it ideal for a variety of creative projects.
