Description

Mandala patterns are based on those that exist in nature. There is no one single mottled pattern, and every piece depicts a unique expression of the natural world, each with its different shades and colors.

The word “mottled” was originally used to describe the irregular patterns of the plants and animals in the natural world. The Japanese word madara, meaning “mottled,” comes from the word “mandala,” a diagram of patterns that uses a mixed palette of colors to represent a view of the universe and everything within it. A mandala depicts a world view that embraces madara patterns.

Every pattern is carefully drawn by hand for mandalas that spread across your table, each piece resonating and combining with the others to offer a cosmic worldview

– Madarayuki / 斑雪 –
This pattern is based on the image of snow covering the ground.
